As part of a Multi-Disciplinary team, HN was the appointed Civil Engineer for this project (ECSA Stage 1 to 6).

Funded by the KZN Department of Health and implemented by the KZN Department of Public Works’ Infrastructure Development team,the project included for the upgrade, additions and renovations of a 100year old heritage building and campus in Pietermaritzburg’s CBD.

Built in 1910, the site was first home to the Harward Boys School and then later the College for Further Training. In 2003, the KZN Department of Health inherited the site which became a nurses training college. The objective of the project was to restore the integrity of the site to its former status, considered to be of historical significance to the Province.

Civil components included repairs, renovations and new works for inter alia water supply, sanitation, driveways and parking areas, stormwater management including SUD’s, earthworks, walkways and universal access facilities.

Being a heritage site, all work had to be approved by AMAFA.
